Chelsea legend Didier Drogba highlights the uplifting influence of Nigeria’s World Cup qualification on African soccer.
Former Côte d’Ivoire striker Didier Drogba has voiced his belief that Africa will reap considerable benefits from the Super Eagles clinching a berth at the World Cup.
In a recent interview, the 43-year-old Chelsea great lauded the Nigerian squad, countering claims that their form has deteriorated.
During the conversation, Drogba also assessed Nigeria’s chances at the upcoming World Cup, emphasizing how their involvement would elevate Africa’s presence on the international football scene.

Despite Nigeria’s early setbacks in the qualification phase and missing out on automatic World Cup entry, they earned a lifeline through the playoff rounds.
Though the playoffs are expected to be fiercely competitive, Drogba remains optimistic about the Super Eagles’ potential to prevail. More importantly, he views Nigeria as a powerful emblem of African football prowess.

Furthermore, Drogba revealed that his vocal support for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen occasionally draws criticism from fans back home in Ivory Coast.
