Former Everton Boss Set to Coach Awoniyi and Aina Following Postecoglou’s Dismissal at Forest

Nottingham Forest players Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina are poised to experience their third managerial change this season following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, according to Soccernet.ng.

The Greek coach was appointed in early September after the club parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo, a decision made by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Espírito Santo later disclosed that a breakdown in trust with the club’s owner was a key factor in their strained relationship.

Under Postecoglou’s leadership, Nottingham Forest managed only two draws in eight matches, suffering multiple defeats, which intensified scrutiny on the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Before their clash with Chelsea, the pressure on Postecoglou was palpable, a sentiment echoed by key Forest midfielder Ryan Yates.

Owner Marinakis was present for the fixture against Enzo Maresca’s squad. Josh Acheampong opened the scoring early in the second half after Forest had shown promise in the first 45 minutes, during which Taiwo Awoniyi made his first league appearance of the season for the Reds.

Shortly after, Pedro Neto equalized with a free kick, prompting the club owner to leave the stadium. Postecoglou retreated to the dressing room post-match to address his players before departing to the stadium car park. He did not participate in the post-match press conference, as his termination had already been confirmed.

Sean Dyche Close to Taking Over at Nottingham Forest

Reports from Sky Sports indicate that Nottingham Forest have reached a verbal agreement with Sean Dyche, the former manager of Everton and Burnley.

Negotiations advanced late Sunday evening, with both parties eager to finalize the deal swiftly, allowing Dyche to prepare the squad ahead of Thursday’s Europa League fixture against Porto.

While the appointment is expected to be confirmed imminently, some final legal formalities remain outstanding, and official paperwork is yet to be completed.

If finalized, this will mark a homecoming for Dyche, who began his playing career with Nottingham Forest before retiring at Northampton Town in 2007.

Assessing Sean Dyche’s Suitability for Nottingham Forest

At 54 years old, Dyche brings experience from managing clubs such as Watford, Burnley, and Everton. He is widely recognized for his disciplined, defense-oriented tactics.

While Nuno Espirito Santo’s tenure was marked by a more attacking style, Dyche’s preference for a direct, pragmatic approach contrasts sharply with the offensive tactics employed by Porto’s manager.

Given Forest’s defensive struggles this season-they have conceded 15 goals in eight league matches, ranking second-worst in the Premier League-Dyche’s emphasis on solidity at the back could provide the stability the club desperately needs.
