Jürgen Klopp has hinted at the chance of resuming his managerial duties at Liverpool, especially as Arne Slot faces hurdles in his second season at the club.
After a remarkable nine-year spell leading Liverpool, Klopp decided to step away in 2024, citing exhaustion and the need for a break from the intense demands of football management.
Since then, he has taken on the role of Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, where he concentrates on the broader development and strategic growth of the sport worldwide.
During his time with the Reds, Klopp amassed an impressive collection of seven major trophies, including the Premier League title, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Community Shield.
Klopp discusses the possibility of returning to management
While Klopp has previously stated he has no immediate plans to return to coaching, he made it clear that if he were to manage in England again, it would be solely with Liverpool.
“I’ve mentioned before that I wouldn’t take charge of any other English club. So, if a comeback happens, it would be with Liverpool,” Klopp shared during an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast. “So, theoretically, it remains an option.”
Despite leaving the door open for a future return, Klopp expressed contentment with his current off-field role. “I genuinely enjoy my work now; I don’t miss the intense pressures that come with coaching,” he remarked.
“I don’t long for standing out in the elements for hours on end, nor the relentless cycle of press conferences and interviews every week,” he added.
Looking ahead, Klopp reflected, “At 58, I might revisit the idea in a few years. But if I had to make a decision today, I wouldn’t jump back into management. Fortunately, I’m not in a hurry and can patiently wait to see what the future holds.”
