The Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has successfully apprehended five Nigerian nationals suspected of orchestrating the trafficking of fifty-seven Nigerians into Ghana under false pretenses of employment and education opportunities.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the CID disclosed that the suspects-Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko-were detained at Adom Estates, Community 25, following a targeted intelligence operation conducted by the CID’s Operations Unit.

Initial inquiries suggest that these individuals are members of a trafficking syndicate that deceives young Nigerians by promising lucrative jobs and academic placements in Ghana. However, upon arrival, the victims, whose ages range from 18 to 26, were coerced into participating in fraudulent online romance schemes and other illicit cybercrimes.

During the raid, law enforcement officials confiscated a substantial cache of equipment, including seventy-seven laptops, thirty-eight mobile phones, two vehicles, three television sets, and various other internet-enabled gadgets believed to facilitate the criminal activities.

All fifty-seven trafficked individuals have been safely recovered and are currently receiving comprehensive care and support services.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The Ghana Police Service urges the public, particularly young people, to exercise caution when responding to job offers, educational opportunities, or travel arrangements promoted via social media or other unverified channels.

Reaffirming its dedication to combating human trafficking, cybercrime, and related offenses, the Ghana Police encourages anyone with credible information about such illicit activities to promptly report to the nearest police station.
