A Werribee local shared with ABC Radio a harrowing experience where their partner was briefly lifted off the ground by strong winds before being dropped back down.

On Monday morning, a severe storm swept through southeast Queensland, bringing wind gusts surpassing 109 km/h and causing power outages affecting roughly 26,000 households. In some areas, residents were struck by unusually large hailstones, some reaching up to 7 centimeters across.
Simultaneously, Victoria saw over 1,300 electricity customers lose power after Melbourne experienced its most intense rainfall in a year and a half. Fortunately, most affected areas had power restored by early Monday afternoon.
