38 Kwara Church Kidnap Victims Yet to Be Reunited With Families Despite Confirmed Release

Thirty-eight members of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku, who were abducted by bandits on November 18, have not yet returned to their families, even after their release was officially confirmed.
The worshippers were kidnapped during a special thanksgiving service in the Ekiti Local Government Area, an attack that left three people dead. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, through his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed the release of the victims. Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga clarified that no ransom was paid, noting that their freedom was secured through government-led negotiations.

Following their release, the abducted worshippers were transferred to Ilorin for medical and psychological care provided by the state government. A senior official explained that the delay in reuniting them with their families is due to ongoing trauma care, particularly for the elderly and children.

Relatives, however, are growing anxious over the prolonged wait. One family member, who spoke anonymously, said:

“The government told us they are taking care of them. We celebrated when we heard they had been released, but since that day, they have not arrived in Eruku. We miss them and want them back home.”

Officials have reassured the public that victims will receive thorough care before returning home, emphasizing that many endured severe trauma during their ordeal.

I have been reporting for several years now and I am very interested in visual news reportage with strong inclusion of photos and video multimedia.
