Insider Confirms: November PDP Convention Is Unavoidable

Reliable sources within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have revealed that Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s National Secretary, was among the signatories of an official correspondence submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Attendees at the gathering confirmed that the document bore the formal endorsement of both the National Chairman, Iliya Damagum, and Samuel Anyanwu himself.

An exclusive informant shared with BusinessDay, “Anyanwu neither denied nor questioned his signature after Governor Bala Mohammed, leader of the PDP Governors’ Forum, publicly affirmed during the NEC meeting that all communications with INEC were officially sanctioned by the National Working Committee (NWC).”

The source added, “This letter was a direct outcome of the 102nd NEC meeting, and Governor Mohammed’s declaration went uncontested by Anyanwu or any other participants.”

Highlighting the importance of the session, the insider noted, “Governor Mohammed delivered his statement in the presence of senior party leaders, key stakeholders including Anyanwu, and INEC representatives.”

According to the confidential source, “The NWC reached a unanimous decision to uphold party cohesion and advance with the Ibadan 2025 national convention plans.”

“Anyanwu was actively engaged in the discussions, and his silence was interpreted as tacit consent to the announcement,” the insider emphasized.

This revelation comes amid reports that Anyanwu has filed formal grievances with INEC, the Inspector General of Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing others of forging his signature.

However, party insiders dismiss these claims, suggesting that “Anyanwu and his faction may have resorted to such allegations after failing to block the Ibadan convention through maneuvers involving state Chairmen.”

Despite mounting opposition, party sources remain confident that the convention will proceed as scheduled.

Preparations are advancing steadily, with various subcommittees, including those handling Special Duties and Accommodation, set to convene on Monday to finalize arrangements.

“As Governor Seyi Makinde cautioned last week, opposing this convention is akin to swimming against a strong tide,” the source warned.

“This event is an unstoppable momentum; resisting it will only lead to being overwhelmed.”
