Nigeria’s first playoff encounter is set against Gabon on November 13. Should the Super Eagles triumph, they will progress to the final round on November 16, where they will face the winner of the Cameroon versus Congo DR semifinal. The victor of this final will earn Africa’s place in the inter-confederation playoff slated for March next year.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is anticipated to release the official match venues shortly.

According to an insider from the NFF who spoke with The Guardian, the official squad list for these crucial fixtures will be unveiled later this month.

“All players are expected to arrive in Rabat by November 9, providing ample time to adjust to the environment and finalize tactical plans,” the source explained.

It has also been confirmed that Head Coach Eric Chelle has submitted a comprehensive preparation schedule for the playoffs to the NFF, with formal invitations to be sent to the selected players soon.

Comments from NFF President Ibrahim Gusau

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau expressed unwavering optimism about the team’s prospects in Morocco.

“We are fully aware of our opponents and the location of the matches. Preparations have already begun well in advance,” Gusau stated over the weekend.

He emphasized the players’ heightened focus and determination, noting their clear understanding of the significance of these matches.

“The dedication and passion the players bring to the World Cup qualifiers are crucial, not only for their careers but also for the pride of the nation,” he added.

Gusau further assured that the NFF is receiving robust backing from the Federal Government and other key stakeholders to guarantee the team’s readiness for the pivotal clash against Gabon.
